The Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) presents a method of relating to the urban environment ascribed by architecture in the new town of Ilsan. Rather than seeking a perfect geometric form, this project, proposes a form and space which can balance with apartments, suburban houses and environmental elements such as mountains and farmlands. A number of subsidiary facilities located in this building, such as multipurpose/ concert hall, restaurants, food courts and various leisure and event spaces, are open to the local residents, contributing to the vitalization of urban culture in the new town where the cultural layer has not yet matured.
